Tetrabromophthalic Anhydride

Tetrabromophthalic anhydride  Tetrabromophthalic anhydride  [632-79-1] TBPA is prepared in high yield and high purity by the bromination of phthalic anhydride in 60% oleum . The sulfur trioxide present in the oleum oxidizes the HBr by-product back to bromine so that all bromine ends up on the aromatic ring.
