In order to obtain optimum material performances, the ammonium polyphosphate needs to: - Be dispersed properly into the polymer
- Be compatible with the polymer matrix
- Be insoluble in water for better weathering performances
Moreover, to facilitate the processing of formulations, APP needs to have: - Good flowability
- Good thermal stability to provide a larger processing window.
To fullfill all these requirements Budenheim has developed finer and coated APP grades which provide significant improvements in terms of material processability and performances.
The table below gives a list of commercial coated APP grades supplied by Budenheim. | Type of coating | Solubility in water g/ml | %P2O5 | FR CROS 484 | uncoated | 0.5 | 72 | FR CROS 486 | Surface Reacted Silane | 0.1 | 71 | FR CROS 487 | MF* Shell Coated | 0.1 | 68 | FR CROS C 30 FR CROS C 40
| Surface Reacted Melamine | 0.1 | 68 | FR CROS C 60 FR CROS C 70
| Surface Reacted MF | 0.05 | 67 | FR CROS 489 | Surface Reacted MF | 0.01 | 65 |
